All Doctors Should be Patients-May 1 Learn With Leaders Luncheon
All of us who work for associations and non-profits have varying responsibilities to recruit, retain, facilitate, and/or manage volunteers in our organizations. Can our own experiences as volunteers help us within our own organizations? Do we know what it’s like to say, “yes” to a voluntary assignment? Have we experienced first-hand what works and what doesn’t as a volunteer? It is common knowledge that doctors with the best “bedside manners” often go out of their way to experience service from the patient’s point of view. This session will explore what association executives have learned from their our own volunteer experiences, and how they have applied those skills to advance their organizations’ missions. More information. Registration.

White Paper on Engaging Young Professionals
Challenged by engaging young professionals in your organization? To help associations deal with this challenge, Association Laboratory, Inc. has issued a new white paper, Engaging Young Association Members, based on input from a group of 35 young association executives who are actively working on identifying and engaging young professionals in their trade and professional associations. The white paper introduces commonly faced challenges to young professional engagement, identify common factors for successful engagement strategy and assess the most likely barriers to success. It provides critical information to help determine how the next generation entering a profession or industry is similar or different from preceding generations and how association strategy and mindsets need to be adapted to engage young professionals as association members. Report Identifies Concerns for Associations
Key trends and factors affecting associations have been highlighted in a newly issued white paper Looking Forward 2015 An Environmental Scanning Whitepaper for the Association Industry. The white paper is based on a recent environmental scanning survey of association executives and management conducted by Association Laboratory which identified major areas of concern to associations such as lower meeting or event attendance, lower member retention, and customizing content for different audiences. Topics addressed included globalization, economic conditions, information management, government activities and workforce management. Click here to download the white paper.
