CAE
How to Obtain and Maintain Your CAE
CAE candidates are required to have been employed full-time for three years as a chief staff executive or five years as an executive association manager and to have achieved 75 hours of continuing professional development within the last five years before taking the required exam, which is given in May and December. Applications and guidelines are available from the CSAE office or by calling ASAE at (202) 626-2772.
To maintain a CAE, executives must accumulate professional points and submit a completed recertification form four years after the original date of certification. Following that date, recertification is required every three years.
Points and continuing professional development hours can be obtained by participating in CSAE events, serving on a committee, attending an educational conference, luncheon program, or educational seminar, as well as writing articles for the CSAE Executive Memo.
