Colorado Society of Association Executives 2170 S. Parker Road, Suite 265 Denver, CO 80231 Dear Friends: Happy Holidays to you and yours! We are most blessed and humbled by your goodness to the children and guests at Samaritan House. Your donation of the gift baskets for infants and children will be greatly appreciated by our parents. Next week we will set up a toy shop for parents to choose the proper gift to give their child on Christmas. Your generosity will help make this a special Christmas for them. Because or your kindness, many of the children and families enjoy a home away from the streets at Christmas time. The staff and volunteers continue to strive to be that Good Samaritan to those most in need. Our mission is to act with compassion and offer great charity! Please know that all of us at Samaritan House remember you in our thoughts and prayers. Without your helping hands and generosity, we could not serve the homeless as we do. May God bless you always! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Sincerely yours,
Fr. John Lager, OFM Cap. Director

Dear Association Executive:
ASAE and the Fax Ban Coalition met late last week to discuss strategies
for the 109th Congress to pass legislation that would overturn the pending
regulations issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) governing
commercial faxes. The FCC's proposed regulations have been stayed
until July 1, 2005, which will hopefully provide sufficient time to work
with both the Senate and the House to pass corrective legislation.
Before convening last year, legislation did pass both the House (H.R.
4600) and Senate (S. 2603) that would restore the "established business
relationship" (EBR) exception for sending commercial faxes. Unfortunately,
due to non-germane attachments to the Senate version of the bill, final
legislation was not enacted.
ASAE and the coalition have continued to work closely with House and
Senate staff to discuss the best and quickest means in which to get this
legislation introduced and passed early in the 109th Congress. Once
legislation is introduced, ASAE will look to you, the association community,
to reach out to your Members of Congress to bolster our efforts in getting
a sensible fax bill passed and sent to the President for his signature.
As ASAE continues to work on this issue, we will keep you up-to-date on any and all developments. Should you have any questions, please contact Chris Merida by phone at 202-626-2831 or by e-mail at cmerida@asaenet.org.
